                 Conversion of Postscript-Type1-fonts to TeX
       (original cm-encoded metafont-files, no virtual fonts necessary)

                           Version 1.2b  April 1994

 DESCRIPTION:

     In order to use Postscript-Type1-fonts for TeX without any special
     encoding scheme (like dc,ec,nfss) you now can convert your favourite
     Postscript-font to Metafont.

 (1) You check your font for the postscript-encoding:
        Is font made by Adobe(tm) or Coreldraw(tm): use convertA.bat
        Is font made by ghostscript's getafm:       use convertG.bat

 (2) You just run convertA.bat or convertG.bat with the fontname as parameter.
         Example:
                    convertA garamond
     Ready!

 (3) Use the new font in your TeX-documents like computer-modern without
     changing the encoding scheme to postscript.

 --> You can simply change fonts from the computer-modern fontfamily
     to your favourite fonts with just entering new fontnames in the header
     of file "newfont.tex".


     This package is based on the ps2mf-package of the authors: Marcel Dings
     (original idea) and Erik-Jan Vens (new ps2mf).

 HARDWARE

   You need an PC-compatible machine using DOS. The idea of afm2tex can be
   ported to unix.



 NEW VERSIONS OF PS4Mfxx.ZIP:

   You can get the actual version of the ps4mf - package at

      ftp.rrzn.uni-hannover.de
        /incoming/tex

   via anonymous ftp.

  There is also a package at
   ftp.uni-stuttgart.de /pub/tex/systems/msdos/ps4mf

 WHERE TO GET FONTS:

   You can get psfonts via anonymous ftp at

     ftp.uni-freiburg.de /pc/os2/atmfonts
     hobbes.nmsu.edu /pub/os2/all/fonts  (?)

   Both files font.afm and font.pfb are necessary.

  Das Programm afm2texA/G.exe darf frei kopiert werden (meine kleine Spende
  fuer die TeX-Gemeinde...).
