Centrování dosáhnete

\parindent=0pt
\parfillskip=0pt
\leftskip=0pt plus30pt
\rightskip=0pt plus30pt

kde 30pt je hodnota, jejíž správná velikost samozřejmě
závisí na šířce textu, písmu a tak. Takže do \begcenter asi
\par\begingroup + výše uvedené a
\def\endcenter{\par\endgroup}
