4allTeX: The ultimate TeX resource
==================================

As you all know, 4TeX is available on CD-ROM for 3 months now. We started the
project last December and it resulted in a 450 MB CD-ROM last June.

After the first release, the 4allTeX CD-ROM became more and more a bestseller.
Computer Colletief (a Dutch computer book / CD-ROM shop) showed great faith
in the Dutch TeX Users Group (NTG) and ordered straight away 25 CD-ROMs.
After 2 weeks they ordered 40, then again 40 and again, again....
Computer Collectief always advertises in the Dutch PC magazines with their
book top 30 and PC-sofware top 20. Guess what happened? Yes! the 4allTeX
CD-ROM can be found in the top 20! Could anyone ever guessed that (4)TeX
would become such a bestseller?

This succes only had one disadvantage:
==> at the end of August we were sold out! <==

Of course we could just reproduce the first edition of the CD-ROM but the NTG
decided to make a SECOND release. Not that there are LARGE bugs on the first
one, NO, just because we really want a perfect product and that means
LATEX2e on it (not only the test release), the latest updates of Eberhard
Mattes (DVIDRIVERS and METAFONT and BIBTEX). Also we received some very good
suggestions from Mattes. He pointed out that some extra copyright notices
should be added on the CD-ROM as well as the source codes of several programs.
He also likes to have extra METAFONT fonts and all the OS/2 stuff on
the 4allTeX CD-ROM.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So the Dutch TeX Users Group (NTG) is proud to announce the
SECOND EDITION of the 4allTeX CD-ROM
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just to get people enthousiastic: The CD-ROM will contain **27.101 files** and
consists of more than **600Mb** (= 70 minutes of music). 4allTeX almost
reached the limits of what a CD-ROM could contain. The installation has been
improved and some new features are added.

Just a quick list of the additions compared to the first release:
- (as complete as possible) version of LaTeX2e (patch level 3)
  (e.g. with psnfss)
- all OS/2 executables
- upgrades DVI-drivers from Eberhard Mattes (1.5c)
- dvips 32 bits version for 386 and higher systems
- new BibTeX version (E. Mattes) using EMX
- new ghostscript version 3
- updates of the 4TeX batchfiles, in order to e.g.
  * view/print/convert JPEG pictures
  * include your own Postscript fonts in TeX
  * update for Windows users: After compiling within 4TeX it is possible to
view the DVIfile with virtial fonts under DVIWIN
  * source codes for GNU software and more
- support for HP laserjet III en IV internal fonts

Just take a week off from work. You need it if you want to see it all on
one single CD-ROM...

Happy 4TeX'ing!

Wietse Dol
